I grew up in South Africa and as a child loved listening to classical music. I, however, got nowhere on piano, the only instrument taught in my town. It was only during my university years in Cape Town studying engineering when I met Marion, my wife to be, that I started to play in earnest. Why? Because Marion is a wonderful pianist!
Starting out on recorder, I progressed to clarinet, later horn and now mostly bassoon. Since moving to Canada in 2003 I have been privileged to become an integral part of the orchestra and chamber community in Toronto, playing regularly in three orchestras and chamber music events.
I am also privileged to be on the boards of Oakville Chamber Orchestra (treasurer), Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (treasurer) and North York Concert Orchestra (general manager) where I work with wonderful people committed to making these organisations a success.
